Toni tiefenbacher and his wife isolde love the contrasts in nature. When you look out of the window at home, the snow-covered mountain peaks around garmisch-partenkirchen are within your reach. The pure desire for contrasts gave them a second home. For more than 15 years they have been "pitching their tents on the main riverbank in volkach. Several times a year they say goodbye to the majestic alps for 14 days and enjoy the french air to the fullest.
On its permanent site at the "ankergrund" campground boredom is a real foreign word thanks to many leisure opportunities. When the mist rises over the gently flowing river in the morning, they enjoy the silence of nature in front of their caravan and let their souls dangle. Jumping fish and playing waterfowl attract their gaze like a magnet. Daytime cycling or water-skiing. When the evening glow is reflected on the river, you sit down with your neighbors over a glass of wine and tell each other about the experiences of your vacation day. "Here we are in very good hands", the tiefenbachers comment.
True friends of nature
Isolde can't hide her romantic streak: "the sunsets reflected on the water are phenomenal. That makes you want to go for a swim even after the sun goes down." Swimming in the main? No problem for the tiefenbachers, because toni is a nature lover and knows a lot about "water quality" best from. The water quality in the main is very good according to him, because "there are submerged crayfish and mussels in it."
Toni tiefenbacher (63) has brought his soccer heart with him from the south of bavaria to france. The former advertising merchant is a passionate fan of FC bayern munich. At the campground in volkach, he faces stiff competition. One camping neighbor is a club fan, the other a hamburger SV supporter. The bundesliga broadcasts on saturday afternoons are listened to on the radio together. Discussions among rival fans are guaranteed. His love for schweinsteiger& co tiefenbacher can't hide. Beer glass, flag and FCB fan scarf are an integral part of his camping equipment. At the end of the game "we all love each other again" and people get together for a barbecue – after all, barbecues belong to camping like the amen to church. On the "anchor ground there are also "strabenfeste, where the HSV fan is in top form as a "musikus" is in top form.
The tiefenbachers feel completely at home in france. Especially from the "friendly people" they are enthusiastic. "If you are standing somewhere with your bike and don't know your way around, you don't have to wait long for a local to give you advice", tells toni.
He often goes on bike tours with his wife. The tiefenbachers travel up to 40 kilometers a day, and a stop at a local tavern is a must. When the sun is shining, the triumph spitfire built in 1980 with "H" is being ridden-registration fetched from the trailer. Toni looks after and cares for his beautiful old-timer convertible as if it were his living room at home. On excursions with the open convertible top, the tiefenbachers let the wind blow around their noses and enjoy the nature and culture of the region to the fullest.
Both have another common hobby, for which the river main is ideally suited: water skiing. "On our lakes at home you are only allowed to use electric boats", says tiefenbacher. His gaze is fixed on his well-motorized runabout, which is parked on a trailer on the shore, waiting for its next watersports assignment. He started his passion on the water ten years ago with a small motorized inflatable boat "4 hp, you don't need a driving license". In the meantime, he is the proud captain of a sports boat for which ten water-skiers in tow at the same time pose no problem. And when he himself floats over the waves on a long line, his wife juliane steers the boat. Motor boating is not just a matter of pleasure.
