Hobby gardeners are people who like to spend their free time in the garden, planting and weeding. It’s a different story for the band "hobbygartner".
The four boys from aisch and zeckern got together ten years ago to make music, but above all to have fun together. Because their concept consists of good music and above all of an amazing stage show. "We are first and foremost about the spab", explains christian brehm alias bebo.
So there are not normal microphone standers on the stage, but spades that hold the microphones. And also the outfits of bebo, michi, maddin and rico are not commonplace. Although their musical style of punk rock might suggest tattered jeans and a leather jacket, the hobby gardeners actually wear dungarees and straw hats on stage. The show is just for the young musicians in the foreground. With numerous light effects they then give it even more individuality.
After their debut album "turbosaat", they will perform their second record "apokalypse to go" will be released tomorrow friday. Musically the new album should be more mature, brehm assures. The musicians spent five days recording their songs in a professional studio in bamberg. Nevertheless the german punkrock with the funny lyrics remains natural. With songs like "madchen kussen", "punk remains punk or"(K)a love song" the band tries to convince their fans. They perform together with the group "ASSLN" and "awesome grey" on friday at the e-werk in erlangen. "The E-werk is the biggest event center in the region", declares brehm joyfully in view of the appearance. The four of them had already been there in their youth, which is why they have an inner connection to the location.
Performances as far away as thuringia
The "hobbygardeners celebrate not only their album release, but also their tenth anniversary at the E-werk. Since 2008 they play the stages in the county and beyond. Whether at the sandkerwa, in kronach or thuringia, with their unusual stage show, they transfer the spirit from the stage to the audience. According to brehm, one of their most recent performances was at the hochstadter kulturfabrik in 2012, when the band members dressed up as santa clauses.
Tickets for the concert on friday are available exclusively at the box office for six euros. The new CD can be purchased directly at the E-werk. But also on numerous social media channels are the "hobby gardeners" to find. As a foretaste, the first album "turbosaat" can be heard can already be listened to on the music streaming portal spotify.
