The help comes in a backpack

The help comes in a backpack

8.3 pm, school has started, but in the auditorium a pile of backpacks and satchels waits lonely. These bags are not needed in the classroom, but somewhere else entirely: they will embark on a very long journey.
For the first time this year the school family neudrossenfeld participated in the backpack project of the aid organization mary’s meals. Children, parents and teachers packed a total of 38 bags on the initiative of teacher susanne muller-huhs and collected them at the friedrich-vonellrodt school in neudrossenfeld. At the end of june, the backpacks were sent on their way to a collection point near augsburg.
The idea behind the backpack project is simple: german children donate and pack their no longer used school bags (backpacks or satchels) for african children, thus making it easier for them to attend school.

Used but in good condition

They filled them with school supplies, hygiene items and some clothing. Almost all materials may be used, but must be in good condition. The school bags are collected centrally and shipped to children in africa (malawi). The cost of transportation will be borne by sponsors.
The organization mary’s meals provides over 1.2 million schoolchildren in the poorest regions of the world with a hot school meal. The backpack project goes one step further: schoolchildren help schoolchildren.
